Located in Sonoma County in the heart of California wine country, this early 1960’s ranch-style tract house lacked all distinction and character. The lot is very small with no pleasing nearby views. Our clients are both employed in the wine industry and are enthusiastic entertainers and cooks. Our solution was to work within the existing shell of the building, finding ways to reconfigure the existing space rather than expand the footprint. We removed all interior walls in the public areas of the house, as well as the attic space. The result is a spacious warm modern living space composed around a freestanding pizza oven. The remodeled home opens up to a series of new outdoor “rooms” featuring a swimming pool, terraces and fountain.
