Douglass Street Residence
San Francisco
| A rare opportunity: re-envisioning a home that was adjacent to a previously completed project. Our clients love to entertain and also have a young child. The home itself was a one-story Spanish revival with very little accommodation for the fantastic views presented by the site. Our solution was to create a new three-story home featuring a butterfly-roofed upper level master suite. Kitchen and family spaces are concentrated on the middle level, with the lower level arranged for a home gym, wine storage, guest bedroom, and media room. Touches of color within and without the home provide accents that complement the owners' art collection of Mexican-inspired magical realism. Sculpted ceiling and wall planes add visual interest to the interior and help define spatial transitions between areas. Mahogany floors add richness and warmth. |
